Loved how the Earthrise section captures the Overview Effect. Frank Borman's quote about nationalistic traits blending away is lowkey profound becuase it shows how physical distance can shift psychological distance. I was reading about how astronauts consistently report this same phenominon regardless of their background or mission, which suggests there's something fundamental about that vantage point that triggers deeper recognition of our shared humanity.

What is awesome about these images is both the grandeur and the beauty of them but they also tell us pretty bluntly that we are quite insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Astronomy is extremely humbling and it takes pleasure doing so, but that is what also makes it exciting because you want more; which makes astronomy a very addictive discipline. You never have enough of it!
